Vintage Tribal Tumar Necklace from Uzbekistan
The vintage tumar pendant on this necklace was handcrafted during the early to mid 1900's in Uzbekistan, Central Asia.
The tumar is a classic amulet from this part of the world. It is characteristically a hollow tube, in which the wearer inserts wishes, prayers, and secrets to repel evil forces and bring good fortune.
One end of this old tumar opens for inserting or removing items, although I have not opened it fully. A warm age patina remains, giving the ornate surface a glow that only the passage of time can create.
The colorful cord is contemporary, and can be removed easily if you prefer to wear on your own ribbon, chain, or cord.
This old Uzbeki pendant is in excellent condition and sturdily made - ready for adding to your tribal jewelry collection.
