Old Bajaur Tribal Jewelry Extra Large Hoop Earrings
These huge old tribal jewelry hoop earrings were handcrafted
in the early to mid 1900's by the Bajaur tribe living in the Bajaur Tribal
Areas in a remote region along the Afghan border.
They have a 4 inch diameter
and thick earwires, which was characteristic of Bajaur earrings. In the crevices around the beads, traces of yellow Kumkuma powder remain, left from long-ago celebrations.
Seldom actually worn through an earlobe piercing, the Bajaur
traditionally wore these large hoops along the side of the head, attached to
hair braids, veils or headpieces - even looped around the entire ear.
decide to wear them as gauged earrings, please note that the wire gauge size is
much larger than standard earlobe earrings at 15 gauge, and the metal is old.
These old Bajaur earrings are in excellent condition, great
for adding to your tribal jewelry collection.
