Large Sterling Silver Tibetan Pendant Necklace from Nepal
This stunning Tibetan Necklace has a very large, sterling silver pendant that was skillfully and sturdily handcrafted in Nepal in the late 1900's.
It has an upper and lower section, articulated with an integrated silver hinge. Both sides of the large lower portion have intricate designs, which is so characteristic of traditional Tibetan Jewelry.
The front is bordered
completely with fine red coral, while a center stone of deep-blue Lapis Lazuli in a bold silver bezel honors the night sky. Ornate brass eternal knots and swirls embellish the front a tribute to the beloved clouds that are ever-present in the high Himalayan Plateau.
The upper portion has swirls and spirals of silver, with a round turquoise stone. Spirals are a symbol of infinite wisdom and harmony with the universe.
The reverse side is a refined pattern of sterling silver and inlaid Turquoise. A black satin cord with a button-style clasp is a recent addition. A mild age patina remains.
