Old Copper and Silver Large Tuareg Tribal Amulet Necklace
Item Number: INH-4452-Nk
Old Tuareg Silver, Brass and Copper Large Tribal Necklace
The large old Tuareg pendant on this necklace was handcrafted in silver, brass and copper by skilled African tribal jewelry artisans during the mid 1900's. It was sturdily constructed, and although it is hollow, it does not bend.
The unique silverwork is of exceptionally high quality, with linear incised designs representing creatures prized by the tribal group - both animal and human. The pendant has a warm age patina adding a glow that only the passage of time can create.
It is worn in the traditional was on the included knotted cord as show. This is a one-of-a-kind piece of collectible old Tuareg tribal jewelry.
About TUAREG: The African Tuareg
consist of widely dispersed nomadic tribes known for their great noble bearing.
They are said to refer to themselves as the "First People," claiming
to have inhabited their region for eons, and well before all others - a claim,
incidentally, that history supports.
The Tuareg are undisputed masters
of the desert, skillfully venturing with aplomb where others could not survive.
Men and women hold equal rank with Tuareg society.
