Vintage Swati Tribal Necklace from Khyber Valley
This strikingly unusual vintage Chanda-Haar Necklace was
handcrafted during the early 1900's in the lush Kashmir Valley at the base of
the Himalayas in Central Asia.
The distinctively-colored vibrant beads on
the elaborate terminals and along the center front are characteristic of the old Swat tribal jewelry from
that region. The deep-pink color mimics that of the beloved pomegranate - a luscious staple throughout this area.
charm pendants hang from cascading rows of dramatic chains along the front. Small charms dangle freely - shaped like pipal tree leaves (the
sacred fig (Bodhi) tree).
The antiqued clasp at the back has been more recently
added for a completely integrated look. This old tribal necklace is in
