Afghan Turquoise Animal Jewelry Souvenir Ring Selection
A selection of Afghan Turquoise animal rings to choose from. Each ring was ornately detailed, including a highly intricate bezel and band. The webbing in the turquoise may look like cracks in the photo, but that is part of the stone, and not a crack. There are no cracks in the stones of any of these rings.
The animal carvings include a gazelle, horse, or ram. Legend has it that these animals are the children of deities, and were sent to earth as helpers. We call these
rings "souvenir jewelry" because they are simply and roughly made,
similar to those found in the street bazaars along the Afghan
border for sale as trinkets and souvenirs to travelers.
