This selection of large contemporary souvenir Star Rings was handcrafted by Afghan tribal jewelry artisans living in Peshawar along the Afghan border. Each ring was carved with an animal talisman. 

Animals are frequently incorporated in Central Asian tribal jewelry, since they are highly revered and believed to impart protection to the wearer. Many animals held special symbolism in ancient times, believed to be helpers sent from the gods to assure good fortune.

About our Souvenir jewelry: We call this "souvenir jewelry" because it is classically but simply made, similar to that found in the street bazaars along the Afghan border for sale to travelers as souvenir trinkets. 

These large rings also look great worn as hair embellishment by threading a lock of hair or braid through them, and securing in place.
