Afghan Kuchi Beaded Embroidery Panel
This colorful large beaded vintage panel was handcrafted in the
later 1900's by Kuchi Tribal Jewelry artisans. Panels like these were pinned or
sewn onto dresses, coats, and even headbands for adding colorful accents.
The bright yellow background is a favorite color among the
tribes of Central Asia. Fringes of blue beads were strategically
placed to ward off the evil eye.
Tiny mirrors spanning the front shimmer as they catch the light with movement. A
dark-red cotton lining has been added, making it easy to affix the panel
wherever desired and lending support.
The designs of stylized birds, rams horns, and mountain triangles on this beaded panel are said to protect the wearer from harm and offer abundance.
Each end has a round phul (flower) fringed with yellow beads with more colorfully beaded rams horns in the center.
