Old Silver Tribal Jewelry Earrings from Afghanistan

These ornate vintage earrings were handcrafted during the mid-1900's by Afghan tribal jewelry artisans.

These earrings are old tribal jewelry, and not new replicas.

They were skillfully made in silver, with turquoise and red glass beads adding a splash of color. They do not bend.

The beads and silverwork are arranged to mimic a stylized bird in flight with filigreed wings.

Throughout Central Asia, birds are deeply revered, seen as messengers between heaven and earth.

There are mild wear patterns and a warm age patina remaining after decades of time. lease note that these earrings are not completely symmetrical, which is easy to evaluate in the side-by-side and manikin images. I have discounted the price considerably because of this.

These traditional old Afghan earrings are in otherwise excellent collectible condition.

The silver earwires may have been more recently added. At 18 gauge, however, they may not fit through regular small earlobe piercings.
