Antique Tibetan Jewelry Symbolic Necklace - Collectible
The antique silver pendant on this is extraordinary necklace is in the shape of a butterfly with the head of a monkey. It was handcrafted approximately 70 - 100 years ago on the Tibetan plateau. In Tibet, the monkey is one of 4 friends...the elephant, the monkey, the hare and the partridge...who symbolize harmony.
Drawings of monks often show them accompanied by these companions on their path to enlightenment. The butterfly and moth are considered the symbol of the soul. In addition to its beauty, this necklace carries high spiritual worth for the wearer.
This old pendant has been restrung with strands of coral, turquoise and other old and newer beads. Collectible Museum Quality Antique Tibetan Pendant with age patina intact on back surface. Patna is unusual in old Tibetan pieces since Tibetan owners typically rub them to a high polish, so this pendant must have been tucked away for years.
