Vintage Turquoise and Silver Necklace - Handcrafted in Nepal
Ornately handcrafted by Tibetan jewelry artisans in Nepal during the late 1900's, this one-of-a-kind vintage necklace has a large, thick turquoise and silver rectangular pendant.
In traditional Tibetan style, swirls of silver clouds form the setting - celebrating the surrounding clouds that are constant companions in the high Himalayas.
The reverse of pendant was also meticulously detailed, with a running border that encircles floral tendrils. A small coral bead sits in the center.
A 3-dimensional silver chevron with more clouds, coral, and turquoise tops the lower portion of the pendant like the roof of a temple.
Multiple strands of turquoise, coral, and silver complete the sides. Ornate round silver pendant-links are also double sided, with the a lotus design on the fronts and inset old amber on the backs.
The back has a turquoise button-clasp.
A warm age patina remains after many years.

About NEPAL: Similar to Tibet, Nepal is a landlocked country in the Himalayas. It is
strategically located between Tibetan China to the North and India to
the South. It shares many influences with both these countries,
including religious, artistic and cultural.
It is famed as being Buddha’s birthplace as well as
for having the tallest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest
(Sagarmatha).
Following China's takeover of their country, many Tibetans relocated to nearby Nepal where they created a cultural community (diaspora) to preserve and continue their age-old traditions.
