This old Lord Vishnu footprints (Vishnupada) silver pendant was handcrafted in the early 1900's or late 1800's of high quality silver (90%) in Northern India. Amulet pendants like this that commemorate important Indian heroes, events, and deities are called “Pathri.” They are worn throughout the country by men, women, and children for protection and as a form of tribute. 

This antique pathri pendant is extremely well made with a solid silver back - not a light-weight pressed piece. It has a warm age patina and some wears patterns of years of loving wear. One of the previous owners wound string around the bail to protect it, and we have left this in place. New twisted cord neckband included.
