This is a large colorfully hand-beaded vintage Afghan Kuchi Tribal Jewelry Necklace from the late 1900's. Necklaces like these are worn daily by Kuchi women to enhance their notoriously colorful clothing and flamboyant accessories.

The traditional tribal design is of repeating rams horns - a favored motif throughout Central Asia. It serves as a tribute to the beloved animal, and also as an amulet to protect the wearer from harm. A generous fringe of elaborately beaded dangles with bell-ends hangs from the lower edges. Ties for adjusting length as desired.
