Colorful Large Vintage Afghan Kuchi Tribal Jewelry Choker Necklace
This vintage Mazar Afghan tribal
choker-necklace was handcrafted during the mid-1900's for the nomadic Kuchi tribe of
Central Asia.
It is an old tribal jewelry
necklace - not a new reproduction.
MEASUREMENTS: (1 inch = 2.54 cm)
Neckband Size = Width across beaded neck portion is 13 inches (not including ties)
Center Drop = 5 inches (distance between edges at center front)
Weight = 10.2 oz
Material = Mixed metals with glass beads and cotton ties
The wide neckband has a
series of ornate flexible-links with 3 large beaded-crescents in the deep red and blue colors that are characteristic of jewelry from Afghanistan's Khost province.
Ornate coin dangles hang along the lower border, clattering together with movement to alert admirers and scare away demons.
It has ties on the sides for adjusting the length.
In excellent condition, mild wear-patterns and a warm age-patina remain after so many years.
