One-of-a-kind Child's Vintage Afghani Embroidered Vest

Hand embroidered Afghan Tribal child's beaded vest in deep-red silk made in the mid to late 1900s. Rich colorful beading, embroidery-edged mirrors, and circles of sequins add extra sparkle. 

Vests like these were often worn under open jackets, blouses, or shawls exposing the colorful designs along the front. They were extremely popular and versatile garments, similar to the today's dickey vest. Sometimes they were sewn permanently into the seams of dress bodices.
