About Kazakhstan
About KAZAKHSTAN:
Kazakhstan is one of
the “-stan” countries located in Central
Asia. It is an extremely large country – larger in land mass than
all of Western Europe and the largest landlocked country in the world.
Much
of
its terrain is rugged and often inhospitable, leading to a nomadic way
of life that thrived as part of the Old Silk Road trade route.
New ideas and merchandise flooded Kazakhstan for centuries through passing traders. As a result,
its towns and villages became surprisingly cosmopolitan despite its remote
locate.
Over its long history, Kazakhstan existed
under many different rulers and dynasties. Most recently, Kazakhstan was part
of the Soviet Union, but gained its independence in 1991.
Its culture remains diverse and relatively open outside ideas.
