Old Afghan Kuchi Tribal Jewelry Necklace
This vintage tribal jewelry necklace was handcrafted during the mid 1900's or earlier for the nomadic Afghan Kuchi tribe of Central Asia.
This is a vintage Afghan Kuchi necklace, and not a new replica.
The necklace has 3 large bead-encrusted rectangular pendants interspersed with old coins and blue beading along both sides in classic Kuchi fashion.
The pendants are 3-dimensional and hollow, making them surprisingly light-weight to wear despite their large size.
The blue double-crescents on the front of the main pendant celebrate the totality of femininity, symbolized by both a waxing and waning moon.
A row of old coins hang below on decorative links, clattering together with movement to add the element of sound.
Mild wear patterns and a rich age patina remain after decades of time. A button clasp completes the back.
Comes in a gift-box.
