Large Vintage Kuchi Tribal Earrings - Green Crescent Hoops
These big bold crescent earrings were handcrafted in the early to mid-1900's for a member of the nomadic Kuchi Tribe who traveled along the Old Silk Road of Central Asia.
Kuchi Jewelry is notoriously exuberant and colorful, often with lots of tiny bells (tinklers) that make a wonderful sound when they clatter together with movement.
The crescent moon is a favorite motif among many cultures, especially the nomadic Kuchi. The pale-green crescents on these earrings are backed with pieces of jewelers' foil to make them glisten in the light.
The photos may look like it, there are no cracks in the crescents - it is the foil-backing catching the light.
Mild wear patterns and a rich age patina remain after many years.
At 14 gauge, the earwires are a larger than standard earlobe piercings. If you have standard small-sized earlobe piercings, these earrings will not fit.
