Large Natural Turquoise Multi-Pendant Sterling Silver Necklace
This elegant large statement necklace was handcrafted in Jaipur - the home of exquisite jewelry craftsmanship in Rajasthan India. It was skillfully made with 7 large natural Turquoise stones, each in a deep Sterling Silver setting.
Turquoise is used virtually worldwide for jewelry making, and is beloved for its brilliant color, which varies from mine to mine.
The distinctive webbing patterns and variations of color in the stones on this wonderful piece are typical of the natural Turquoise found throughout much of the Himalayan region just north of Jaipur.
In photos, webbing patterns may appear to be cracks, but they are not - none of the stones of this necklace have cracks. Turquoise forms in crevices between other rocks; the webbing results when nearby minerals and striations of rock get included in the turquoise formation process.
Webbing is greatly prized by Turquoise aficionados. About Jaipur: Jaipur is the capital of the state of Rajasthan in Northern India. It is often called "The Pink City" because of the pink color of the stones in its elaborate architecture.
Early rulers patronized the arts, inviting skilled craftsmen from throughout the known world to come to Jaipur. As a result, Jaipur became a major hub of excellent for the artisan crafts, and remains so today.
