Native American Indian Squash Blossom Necklace with Hallmark
This exquisite large Navajo Native American Indian Squash Blossom Necklace was handmade using prized Manassa Turquoise.
The beads and body of the necklace are all Sterling Silver that have been sturdily and skillfully handcrafted. Navajo artisan's M. Tsosie Hallmark is on the back.
The Tsosie family has been making quality Native American Jewelry for generations, and were among the first to do so.
Manassa
Turquoise is renowned for its blue-green to green color with a
golden-brown matrix. It is mined in the hills of southern Colorado,
USA.
The Squash Blossom Necklace is one of the most archetypal designs in Navajo Jewelry-making. The flower buds along the sides of the necklace are said to represent the blossoms of the treasured Native American squash plant.
The large central pendant, however, is called a Naja, which is an abbreviation for the Navajo word "Najahe," meaning crescent. Some people also refer to the Square Blossom Necklace as the Navajo Wedding Necklace.
This Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace is Certified Native American Jewelry.
