African Tuareg Tribal Jewelry Pendant Necklace
This unusual necklace was handcrafted in Africa by Tuareg tribal jewelry artisans of silver with brass accents. The bail and back are of dark leather, with incised details on the front.
The Tuareg are a nomadic people who wander freely across the borders of the various desert nations in North Africa.
Because of the extreme desert heat during the day, they frequently travel at night, using familiar stars as a reliable compass.
This pendant was designed with the pattern of the northern star and 4-directions, as a symbolic guide.
About TUAREG: The African Tuareg
consist of widely dispersed nomadic tribes known for their great noble bearing.
They are said to refer to themselves as the "First People," claiming
to have inhabited their region for eons, and well before all others - a claim,
incidentally, that history supports.
The
Tuareg are undisputed masters of the desert, skillfully venturing with aplomb
where others could not survive. Men and women hold equal rank with Tuareg
society.
