Unusual Vintage Turkmen Tribal Jewelry Handcrafted Ring
This unusual vintage ring was handcrafted during the mid-1900's for the nomadic Turkmen (Turkoman) tribe of Central Asia.
The front of the ring was sturdily made and does not bend. 3 colorful glass beads sit in raised bezels, perched above the gilded surface.
The wide band was also sturdily constructed to withstand the rigors of a nomad's daily life.
Mild wear patterns and a slight age patina remains after many years of time. Excellent condition.
Comes in a gift-box.

About the TURKMEN: The Turkmen (Turkoman) are a tribal people
who have lived in the harsh steppes of present-day Turkmenistan and neighboring
Central Asian countries for thousands of years. Historically, they were nomadic
herdsmen and traders, renowned for their athletic Ahkal-Teke horse.
Turkmen jewelry is notoriously large, with pieces worn on both
the front and back of the body, as well as on the head, arms, and fingers. Some
say that the large size of Turkmen jewelry is a vestigial form of the armor
worn by Turkmen women who fought alongside their men in battle.
The five major tribes of the Turkmen are the Teke, Esari, Yomut,
Choudur, and Saryk - represented by the
5 stars and carpet designs on today’s Turkmenistan National Flag.
