This beautiful contemporary cuff bracelet from Nepal has "Om Mani Padme Hum" in raised lettering across the band. Swirling vines and floral motifs flank both sides.
The phrase "Om Mani Padme Hum" is one of the most revered mantras of Tibetan Buddhists, especially among followers of the Dalai Lama. It has been translated as "Hail the jewel of the Lotus" to invoke Avlokitesvara (Chenrezig) - the protector from danger.
"Om Mani Padme Hum" is found throughout Tibetan Buddhist regions, inscribed on rocks, prayer wheels, walls, paths, village gates, and on jewelry...as well as from the lips of locals.
