This large Silver Barrette is an exceptional piece of handcrafted Vintage Turkmen Tekke Tribal Jewelry in high-grade gold-gilded Silver. It consists of 2 separate hair pendants linked by classic Turkmen decorative connectors. 

The unusual silver dangles are carefully incised, with gilding emphasizing the pattern. Several vibrant red and blue glass eye-shaped beads are set in silver bezels to ward of the evil eye and protect the wearer. 

This substantial hair clip was originally designed to gather hair at the back of the head, although it can just as easily be attached elsewhere - even as a pendant on a necklace. 

Skillfully handcrafted of substantial high-grade silver in the mid to late 1900's. Patina has been partially removed to highlight the classic gold-gilded designs of stylized flames and birds' wings.
