Vintage Tribal Jewelry - Sindh Cuff Bracelet for Small Wrist
This unusual bracelet was handcrafted during the mid 1900's in the Sindh Valley that starts at the base of the Himalayas in Central Asia. It was sturdily made, and does not bend.
A double row of rounded small spikes rims the circumference, bordered with twisted-wire. A classic Sindh bell hangs from the front.
A pin-hing clasp allows this old bracelet to open and close securely around the wrist. The warm age patina adds a glow from the passage of time. With a 6-1/4 inch circumference, this bracelet is intended for a small wrist.
About Sindh: The province of Sindh (Mehran) was
named after the Sindhu River, before the name changed to the Indus River.
The
archeological record from the Indus Valley is among the oldest in the world,
going back over 7000 years BCE. The current Sindhi population consists mostly
of descendants from the original ancient people, with many Balochi and Pashtuns
as well.
Over the millennia, the Sindhi people have lived under various rulers,
experienced countless cultural influences, and remained a vibrant presence as
part of present-day South-Western Pakistan.
