Vintage Tribal Jewelry handcrafted in Northern India in the mid 1900's. This is a large Toe Ring (Angutha) made with two adjoining a spiked sections. Inside the hollow sections are tiny bells that clatter for a wonderful sound with every step. A sturdy open band allows for adjusting fit.
Toe rings like this Angutha are common throughout tribal India and have great cultural significance. This style is worn on any of the three middle toes, never on the big toe. Besides being beautiful adornments, toe rings are believed to offer protection to the wearer and to attract wealth.
