Vintage Tribal Turkmen Olami Cuff Bracelet
This wonderful vintage Turkmen Bracelet was skillfully handcrafted in the early 1900's by Olami (Otamish) tribal jewelry artisans in the region of Merv - an ancient oasis town in Turkmenistan.
It has the classic Olami double band design, embellished with incised scrolls. Rows of twisted wire highlight the borders for a balanced
look. This bracelet was sturdily made and does not bend.
Each side of the wrist opening has three claws (or fangs)
for holding the cuff in place.
Symbolically, they represent powerful forces that protect the wearer.
This Olami cuff has been polished to a beautiful glow, but
traces of age patina remain, especially in the crevices adding extra dimension
and intrigue.
